The Crafts Report

ONLINE EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEWS
with Artists in Every Medium

Many challenges are common among artists, regardless of medium: Reaching customers from home-based studios, especially in rural locations; educating the public about craft; building a national reputation; finding success at retail shows; marketing to galleries, and so on. Other challenges are specific to artists in each medium, such as: breaking down the stereotypes as doll artists; the costs of running a glass, ceramics or woodworking studio; justifying to customers the price of an object as tiny as a bead; explaining the processes of paper making and advancing it to an accepted art form; and competing with mass-produced fashion as a wearable artist. The Crafts Report Online provides in-depth interviews with successful artists that reveal how they have overcome these challenges, among others, and how they have built their businesses.

New online exclusive interviews will be highlighted in the box to the right. Previous interviews can be accessed from the table below, by choosing a medium and then selecting an artist's name.
